They have broken the everlasting covenant...

The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant. Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.(Isaiah 24:5-6)

Isaiah has a section called the “Little Apocalypse”, from chapter 24-27 in which he describes the end of the world in terms of the breakdown of human society. In the verse above he gives us the reasons for this judgment, the inhabitants of the earth have broken laws,statutes, and an everlasting covenant,therefore the judgment must come. I think I have an idea of what those broken laws and statutes involve.

Everything foundational for human society is initiated by God himself, in Genesis, chapters 1-12. Man and woman, made in the image of God, marriage , the God assigned roles of male and female,the command to “be fruitful and multiply”, the call of man to subdue the earth as God’s regent, all of these are set forth as the very bedrock of human society.

The State and its God ordained power is revealed to us in early Genesis, after the flood, when God ordained capitol punishment for murder,not primarily as a deterrent, but as a reflection of the value of man, made in the Image of God. It was after the flood also that the eating of meat was permitted by God. And to the eight survivors of the greatest cataclysm , the assurance by God of four seasons every year. After Babel, the division of man into various nations also was ordained by God.

It has lately occurred to me how systematically every single one of these foundations has been utterly repudiated by the engineers of the “brave new” godless society that is being constructed by our movers and shakers.

Consider what has happened to each of these God ordained societal building blocks in our lifetime:

Marriage- Look at so called “gay marriage”, no fault divorce laws,the removal of restrictions on pornography, the loosening of all moral constraints…As Isaiah lamented, “they have broken the everlasting covenant.”

The God assigned roles of men and women- Consider Feminism,( a heresy which has altered the consciousness of  both men and women),The denigration of the role of the wife and mother, Women sent into combat, the homosexual influence on  society…etc

The Sanctity of Life ,Man, made in the Image of God, But our social planners insist on the promotion and export of the culture of death; abortion, birth control, euthanasia. The impression is given that the responsible thing to do is have as few children as possible. This is the absolute repudiation of “Be fruitful and multiply “.

The Family-You have no need to have pointed out to you how the humanists relentlessly attack the family.

Capitol Punishment – Capitol punishment is theological for it warns men of the final Judgment, and it preaches ultimate personal responsibility for evil. It is God’s concept-that whoever sheds mans blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the Image of God made He man.( Genesis 8:6) But modern man would be more merciful than God.

Point by point, these and other Genesis principles have been opposed by the molders and shapers of thought and opinion of today.

*Meat eating?  No, too cruel to animals, and irresponsible to the environment. Must go vegan!

*Capitol punishment? How barbaric! The idea of personal responsibility has been supplanted by a belief that environment,ie society is the blame for crime. Therefore, we must work to rehabilitate those whom society has failed.

*Four Seasons of every year till the end of time? Not according to Al Gore and Maurice Strong.

*Must the nations of the World be divided by Language and culture? Not any more, we now have a UN, and a movement of multicultural globalism that is working to break down any expression of state sovereignty. In other words, the elite of nations are working feverishly to overcome, the “babel effect”.

* Every fruit and herb  bearing seed of its kind? We have even repudiated this with the development of genetically altered seed.

* Man to spread out and subdue the earth? Not any more.Now massive tracts of land are being sealed off by Governments from any development, so that it can be left in it’s pristine state untouched by man. Also populations of third world people are being forced into crowded cities.

It is uncanny, how each of these primal building blocks of human society have been systematically replaced and rejected . It seems to me to be almost a deliberate opposition to the One who ordained these things for man, by the “Kings of the earth and their rulers.

“The Kings of the earth  set themselves, and their rulers take counsel together against the Lord, and against his Anointed saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us..”(Psalm 2:2)

These are the laws, men have rejected. Biblical religion and the western culture it shaped is now being cast aside. Homosexual marriage and abortion are  not mere fads or trends, rather they are serious transgressions that will soon bring upon the world a shattering and irreversible judgment.

The attempt to altar the very God assigned gender roles, not to mention the attempt to switch Gender itself,  also constitute the above mentioned breaking of the “everlasting covenant” which will surely bring upon this world God’s wrath. Isaiah also said ,Seek ye the Lord while He can be found and call upon Him while He is near…
