Also, thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD: Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient high places are ours in possession: (Ezekiel 36:1-2)
There is a growing controversy between the leaders of the world, and the God of the Bible, over a particular piece of real estate. The property in dispute is called by the world, the West Bank, or at times “the occupied Territory” , or the Palestinian Authority.
- They claim the ancient High places as their own possession…
The United Nations has designated this chunk out of the east side of the State of Israel, along with Gaza, which is a smaller chunk out of the west side of Israel, to be a new Palestinian state.
The effort is currently underway to lessen the influence of the approximate 600,000 Jewish settlers who have bought land there, irrigated it, and built little hilltop towns in the very heart of Biblical Israel. These settlers are seen as an obstacle to peace in the region, “occupying” land that is earmarked by the World community for the “Palestinian state”.
The Obama administration’s official policy is that a “no natural growth policy” should be enforced upon the settlers in the West Bank. That means that a Jewish population number should be agreed upon, and enforced. In practice, one Obama advisor stated that “If a Jewish baby is born in the morning, by evening another Jew should be moving out!”.
The God of the Bible has other plans for the region however. He calls this land by different names, ie “the mountains of Israel”, “Judah”, and “Samaria”. God dedicated a whole chapter to this area in Ezekiel, offering His perspective on the current controversy. It is startling to read Ezekiel 36 in the light of todays events.
Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and are an infamy of the people:(vs 3)
- “They have made you desolate…” Judea and Samaria was at one time a well watered, forested , verdant, “Land flowing with milk and honey”, but it has been made desolate in the years since.
One way they made her desolate was in the time of the 400 year Ottoman rule over the holy Land, the Turkish Governors imposed a tax on trees. The few Arabs that did live there cut down as many trees as possible to avoid the tax, thus turning a once prosperous area into an arid desert.
- You are taken up in the lips of the talkers…About one-third of the time at the UN is spent in discussions of the status of Jerusalem, the proposed Palestinian homeland, the problem of the Jewish settlers , the “Two state Solution” and it’s obstacles, as if Judea and Samaria have nothing at all to do with the nation of Israel.
* …That you might be the possession of the rest of the Heathen(nations)…The U.N. and its supporters are actually treating the land God gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, as if it is the U.N.’s to dispose of at will, to decide who can occupy, and who can’t.
In the light of scripture, we can only conclude that this is what will bring the judgment of almighty God down upon us, for this land is God’s alone to dispose of as He has seen fit. As God himself has said,
The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.(Leviticus 25:23)
* …And are an infamy of the people…The West bank and its stubborn settlers are getting the same bad name the Rhodesians received in the 1970′s by the “world community”, or the Serbs in the 1990′s.
Even in the face of the recent cowardly massacre of a settler family in their own beds by terrorists, the President of the United States made a moral equivalence, deploring the murders and any “Palestinians who have been killed”.
The World knows how to isolate a people, demonize them, lionize their tormentors, ignore indignities and outrages against them, and encourage those who would destroy them that they are somehow “on the right side of history”. Just ask the Afrikaners, the Rhodesians and the Serbs!
The future of the West Bank does not belong to the unfortunate “Palestinian” people, in spite of the best efforts of the “Kings of the earth and the rulers thereof…”,
But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come. For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown:
And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all of it: and the cities shall be inhabited, and the wastes shall be builded:And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of men.(Ezekiel 36:8-12)
The West Bank of the Jordan River is destined to be inhabited by Jews, lots of them. Note that three times in the above passage the Lord says “My people Israel”?
Israel will re-inhabit the ancient cities, such as Bethlehem, Hebron, East Jerusalem, Jericho and Nablus, the heart of biblical Israel will again be Jewish over the objections of the so-called “World Body”.
