The Sifting of America…(American trial)

Author’s note- I have been quoting 2 Chronicles 7:14 lately in regards to our national problems. I realize that technically the verse applies to Israel, it is a promise to them made by God at the dedication of the temple. But in response to those who have correctly pointed that out to me, I realize it, but do not believe that 2 Chronicles 7:14 has nothing to say to us. The principle of national blessings being of God and depending upon his bounty- therefore the need for prayer in tomes of national trouble, is sound.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:(Deuteronomy 30:19)

And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.(Luke 22:31-32)

Historic and prophetic events are rapidly coming crashing down around us, in breathtaking rates of speed and severity.

In the past week alone, We beheld with horror the open corruption of our cherished concept of the rule by law demonstrated by the nation’s very highest office holders (President, former President, former first lady and potential President, the FBI director and the Attorney General).

This charade was followed by the emotionally  incendiary release of  two videos of police shootings,  giving the impression of cold blooded murder, and then finally the brazenly open attack on our formerly civil society in the massacre of five Dallas policemen, as they defended the rights of protestors (against them!) to have freedom of speech .

What is happening to America is a divisive sifting. On the night Jesus was betrayed, He warned one of his disciples, that “Satan desires to have you that he may sift you as wheat…”

People in America are being forced into competing sides,  neutrality is increasingly becoming an impossibility as these issues are forced upon us by powers greater than the average person.

Therefore I think it helpful to be clear on what the “sides” in this struggle for America really are;

We in America are currently are being torn between the forces of :

  • Judeo/Christianity and Leftism– Is the American experiment a failure? Do we throw in the towel and admit that those who clamor and demand radical change at every level are right?

  • Individualism vs collectivism –  Is man made in the Image of God ? Is he a responsible moral agent, endowed by his Creator with inalienable rights? Are we going to be a meritocracy?Or will there be favored and/or unfavored groups,(gays, women, blacks, latinos)
  • Is there a “collective guilt”(white guilt) which needs to be redressed or will every individual stand before law on his or her own merit.

It is easier for amoral power-hungry politicians to control all of us, when they can  pit us against each other when these “identity politics ” are played.

  • Collectivism is a kind of tribalism- The difference between a Republic and a tribal system comes down to this. In a republic all are theoretically treated the same under the law. Western Republics may have come short of that at times, but that it the ideal which has been striven for. But in tribalism it is “All for the tribe” nothing for anyone outside of the tribe.

We were all disgusted by the spectacle of the Trump rallies in Sacramento and San Diego in which angry crowds were allowed to hit, curse and pelt Trump supporters on their way out of the rally, as Policemen  looked on passively.

It was frightening, watching crowds of black and Mexican men chasing a 16 year old boy until they tackled him and beat him in the street, or as Mexicans waving Mexican flags ruthlessly jeered and pelted a frightened young white girl, spitting on her and pelting her with eggs.

I found out that in San Diego and in Los Angeles and possibly Sacramento, the Mayor and Police Chiefs were “La Raza” sympathizers.  The group “La Raza” ( “The Race”) has become a political tribe. Their motto is “All for the race…nothing for outsiders” and we saw that in frightening real time in those rallies.

Tribes don’t concern themselves with right and wrong, whatever a tribesman does is right, and to be defended, outsiders are wrong by definition.

Our politicians are working feverishly to import millions of members of the ultimate tribe, Muslims from the Middle East. When these “tribesmen” set themselves up in a typical,(former civil) American city, they act tribal. Twin Falls Idaho was treated to that earlier this month as a fourteen year old and two younger Muslim boys were caught raping and humiliating a five year old special needs child in an apartment complex,at taxpayer expense.

When the boy’s father was called in, he smiled and high fives his son, (who had raped the little girl. Tribalistic morality is different then our morality. All for the tribe, nothing for the rest!

  • Emotion vs Reason- The videos of the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile are heartbreaking, visceral, disturbing and incendiary. America knows these men by name now, just as she knows the name of Treyvon Martin and Michael Brown.         (Do you know the names of any of the Dallas Policemen, or the names of any of the fifty people shot in Chicago over Memorial day weekend? I doubt it).                             But these names are well known because there is a true concern yet in America that no one be subjected to  racist lynchings as they had been in the past. There is nothing more repugnant to American sensibilities than the old Jim Crow system of the South, long since dismantled and disavowed.                                                                                        But demagogues are exploiting us, whipping up members of the African American community and the millions of (rightly) sympathetic Americans of all hues, into trying and condemning the police on the basis of san emotional reaction to the videos.                                                                                                                                                     Even the President has weighed in on the side of knee jerk reaction against the police, without an investigation, trial, judge , jury or any of the other moral furnishings of our once highly civil and successful society.
  •  We do punish rogue policemen here, when proven guilty and given the same courtesy we give to  all citizens, the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Do you see how you are being played America?  These demagogues, including our President, have an agenda.

  • Ultimately America is being torn between the forces of Civilization and Savagery- What happened in Dallas is what happens in third world corrupt banana republics, it is utter savagery. But it was preceded by Black Lives Matter activists marching and chanting in streets, restaurants and even taking over political rallies, seizing the microphones out of the hands of valid political candidates to express their “concerns” using the vilest and most obscene language, and threatening an often dealing in violence.
  • We have been sinking into savagery for sometime, as the new elite, force Christianity out of the public sector. Abortion is savagery. Remember the filming of abortion proponents eating salads and drinking wine and casually discussing the benefits of preserving (baby) body parts for sale? What was the President’s response? “God bless you Planned Parenthood” you will always be around as long as I am here!
  • The “Gay rights” rallies which people actually take their children to, are exhibitions of savagery and public perversion. Muslims also menacingly are allowed to march through the streets of American cities waving the flag of ISIS and proclaiming the superiority of the false “god” who orchestrated the twenty thousand terror attacks since 9-11,2001.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised at the savagery coming. I weep though…

I think the case needs to be made if possible, in a sane and civil way, for the conservation of the Judeo Christian values which once held this nation together, I don’t know if it can though. Certainly not on University campuses, where the leftist demagogues have all but replicated the gulags of the Soviet Union.

I was struck recently by the fact that our National anthem is inconclusive, it ends in an open question…“Oh say does that star spangled banner yet wave…?

We had better be praying saints…

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chrionicles 7:14)

i do a lot of praying and weeping Bill, “GOOD Post here Bill”…but i’m sorry to say that 2 Chrionicles 7:14 does not apply to the USA

  2. Kris says:

Thank you Bill for a well put list of sorrows we are seeing and have seen for some time ..not to mention the false teachings that have gripped the attention of those who are not invested in or who have not the knowledge of what the scriptures actually DO say on all things be they new baby Christians or long time but lacking study of the Word..fall into the ditches if prosperity pew filling dogma or whole systems of deceptive rabbit trails while sound doctrine is rare and precious!

Pray..oh do orY for there is a famine in the land for truth it even so….the narrow way still has weary travelers who refresh themselves At the fountain of living waters and continue on in His Word thereby being made His disciples INDEED

Our Fod is merciful and I am thankful even as I am sorrowed by the tensions of today’s unregenerate masses being provoked by those who “know not spirit they are of” but push on to their own destruction as well as hose who follow after their rhetoric

    Sorry..more texting errors😕

Am preparing to post / pass this along to Facebook where several readers, who tend to be critical of even minor grammar errors will view it. Even mall errors will allow them to rationalize discounting this well thought out message. Id est. “Or will THERE (vice their) be favored or unflavored groups.” Cheers and God bless, Edward Kosky (USNA ’68)

  5. Bill you have such excellent articles, but I was disappointed to see you misuse 2 Chronicles. It has nothing to do with the USA.

Glenn I do not believe America is Israel, and thus agree that technically 2 Chronicles doesn’t apply to America. However that doesn’t mean 2 Chronicles 7 has nothing to say to our situation. The principle of God’s blessings of liberty and peace being removed because of faithlessness, and possibly recovered through humble repentant prayer comes through the passage. I explained this to another letter writer as well. in Peace PBR

      • Bill,

I strongly disagree. 2 Chron has absolutely NO application to the USA or any other nation, nor to Christians. If you use it with other passages as way of showing God’s general way of working with believers, that’s fine. The problem is the promises of 2 Chron are not for anyone but Israel. It is one of the most abused passages of Scripture.

  6. billrandles says:

Thanks Glenn, I thought I made it obvious that I meant it as a general principle of God’s ways of dealing with nations…2 Chronicles 7 is not written as a promise to the USA, but there is a principle of God reveled here, * God is the source of national blessings * sin is the cause of the loss of those blessings * God is inclined to respond to heartfelt prayers by his people for the removal of offense and possible return of those blessings.

  7. Pastor Bill – Thank you for what you have written here! It is basically the same views I have been posting on Facebook for months now. Urging believers to get on their knees in prayer to our Lord. Only since the past week has anyone begun to respond to these posts which tells me one thing; that God oftentimes brings His body of believers to such a point of discomfort that they are compelled to bend the knee and seek His face in all earnestness. The truth of God’s Word illuminates and exposes the darkness in the world around us and should bring us justly, as believers, to a place of prayer and repentance for this nation and the world. I’ve been praying for you and the ministry of Believers In Grace for many years…and will continue to do so until our Lord Jesus returns. God bless.

Dear Helen, what a blessing your prayers are an your encouragement is needed as well. I would love to read some of your columns sister if you would give me a link. Thanks for prying for us we need it, do you have a good fellowship? PBR

      • Dear Pastor Bill, My Facebook timeline link is: https://www.facebook.com/helen.hichens.7 (I’m just a praying grandma and would be happy to have you read my posts). I have been reaching out, of late, to many of God’s remnant, near and far. In these last days, I think it is important that we begin to know each other and pray for each other no matter where the Lord has placed us. As far as fellowship, I had a very wonderful fellowship for many years at a Calvary Chapel in Tempe, AZ. That is where I was blessed to hear Jacob Prasch teach, among many other good teachers and through Jacob’s ministry discovered your sermons at Believers In Grace. (By the way, your sermons, “European Immigration In Prophecy” and “Europe is an Empty House” were so inspired by the Holy Spirit. My husband and I learned so much.). Right now we are in a remote area of Northern Arizona and though we’ve searched far and wide, have not yet found a fellowship of believers. This is one of the things I’m continually in prayer about and would welcome prayer from those at Believers In Grace. I do stay close in touch with many people from my previous fellowship at Calvary. Among those are these beautiful sisters in Christ who I was blessed to pray with for many years, as we gathered once a week to pray for Israel. We remain close and support each other in prayer. Let all of us continue to magnify the Name of the Lord, in spirit and in truth. Brachot b’Shem Yeshua, Helen Hichens Foreman

FYI John Haller recommended his listeners today on his prophesy update that they come here to read this post….🎉

I also listen to JD Farag in Hawaii and Charlie in Florida on the Superior Word site…both offer some various news and issue commentary

JD is and Lebonese Arabic background who pastors in Hawaii .His parents fled to America to get away from Islam and he came to Christ and is now a pastor…he is quite passionate about the issues and it’s interesting to hear his outspoken perspective about the Middle East ….

Charlie is a solid believer and he is also fun to hear .

  11. RG Johnson says:

I think as followers of Christ, we all need to be reminded that neither America, nor this present world is our home. If you have set your affections on either, it is my opinion that your heart will be divided because you can’t serve two or three masters. Whatever your position is in Christ, I think it is wise to view these current events and controversies through the lens of the gospel and not through the flesh.

As far as knowing the names of the those who died in Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis and Louisiana is concerned, this is what I do know: all of these have entered Eternity, whether they were ready or not – I hope this fact alone gives pause and concern to all of us who are covered by the blood of Jesus through salvation.

I don’t think that America is being “torn between the forces of civilization and savagery” – This is what is happening to America and the world: EPHESIANS 6:12 – FOR WE WRESTLE NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD, BUT AGAINST PRINCIPALITIES, AGAINST POWERS, AGAINST THE RULERS OF THE DARKNESS IN THIS WORLD, AGAINST SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS IN HIGH PLACES.” Knowing this should enable us to have compassion for those who are deceived and in bondage to sin, including those who practice homosexuality. I’m not saying the bunny fuzzy feeling of “can’t we all just get along thing” — I mean sober compassion with your spiritual eyes wide open. I hope you will take all that I’ve said here under consideration — it is not meant to offend anyone — just to consider. In Christ.

    • billrandles says:

      Thanks RG , I don’t believe we are in any disagreement here. There is no doubt that all that really matters is eternity, no one is claiming America as their home, we are citizens of the Kingdom that is eternal and cannot be shaken. The point of knowing names is to humanize those who were slaughtered in the name of a twisted version of “Civil Rights”. Humanly speaking there is no question about the forces tearing apart America. To want civilization to prevail over savagery in our temporal society is not “Fleshly” or carnal. Paul said that the reason we should pray for our leaders and men in all authority, is that we may live a “quiet life in all godliness and honesty”, which Paul then connects with the success or hindrance of the gospel enterprise “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

      3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

Because God wants all men to be saved, he wants us to pray for a civil society…

I realize there are other factors RG, such as the last days, the judgment of God, and the fact that Satan and his minions have been set loose upon us , since the time is short. Your input is in no way offensive, brother, We appreciate it.PBR

As a believer I recognize the need for all to have a chance to be confronted with the gospel message. As such I pray that anyone who the Lord knows will hear it wil be led a across my path especially when out and about but not exusively

With that in mind I always remain ready to speak what will come up day by day to those without.

1 Pet 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

It is often through these encounters I receive another study assignment because people will ask questions which I may feel prepared to answer but also may want to check back with scripture to make sure that I have it right

The Bible says that the condition of the header is important for them in order that they might receive it ….

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

2 Cor 4 provides wisdom in this walk among the world around us

One question I would pose as is often the believers “dilemma ”

Some would say that to vote in an election is to become too involved in this world affairs
But then what stewardship is there in allowing those of the world who are under the influence of the god of the age determine all matters in which we might be given opportunity to set our homes in order under the wisdom of God by the ability to make our voices know while we may?

We should obey God rather than men and presently the devil is seeking to shut down freedoms that still may be exercised by any who will stand

As the days wear on this may certainly change as the scriptures speak of things before the rapture indicate the closeness

However before the rapture things go on pretty much “normal” but before the conclusion of the seven years life on earth will be far more violent and erratic
Thus the difference of life prior to the rapture and life prior to the return of Jesus to set up His Kingdom upon the earth

So RC, is voting in your mind, to be “setting our affection upon the earth rather than above”?
I think many might profit from the answer to this question as the election is on the horizon

Some refuse to vote and some won’t because the feel the “fix is in” yet we as believers may trust as we continue in the Word in our Gods plans coming to pass

    Thank you for you reply

    • RG Johnson says:

Lately at times when I talk to other Christians they really are invested in this life and all the pleasant things in it. Many do not read the scriptures and, as a result, many don’t perceive that things in this world are changing. Some are putting their trust in electing the right person to set America back on course. For some, America, is an idol that they worship above God.

However, this election cycle is strange indeed and I don’t think it is by chance. I actually see the hand of God in this since he sets up and takes down governments. My personal belief is that God is directing us to look to Him rather than whomever gets elected. My opinion is that the world is being prepared for the New World Order — I think Mr. Obama is actually preparing America for its participation in it, and whomever is elected after him will finish it. This is just what I feel — but it is not a “thus saith the Lord.”

Things may get better for a little while but I would not put my trust in that. I do not like this election season — it is like nothing I have ever seen — and for the first time ever I do not care for any of the candidates. I don’t know if I will vote as it would have to be the choice of the lesser of 2 evils — the problem is that I cannot determine who is the lesser of 2 evils — I do not see anything good with either candidate.

I also want to say that not only am I alarmed about the racial divisiveness creeping up in America but it is also creeping into the online Christian community. On a Christian website and on a Facebook post I read I noticed people are defending their individual races in a way that you can hear the bitterness and annoyance at these protests/demonstrations. That is why I try to steer clear of such things as the feelings they stir up are not good–it leads to fights and provides a terrible diversion for the body of Christ — it is also demonically inspired.

  15. Kris says:

Well I just want to say I hope I can be somewhere in your neighborhood in the heavenly home you two😍 🎉

2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Phil 4:1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

1 Th 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

1 Cor 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

    1. Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

1 Peter 5:3 Neither as being lords over [God’s] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

1 Peter 5:5 ¶ Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

May we all finish the race well
