The Coming Test of Division…Satan desires to have us… part 1

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.(Micah 7:6)
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.(Matthew 10:35-36)

Jesus warned us of an extremely demanding test which would come upon the entire world, the effect of which would be strife and division even down to the level of enmity in each and every household.  This will be a universal test, Christians also will be severely tested by the Spirit of Division which is coming upon the world.

Humanly speaking, intense demands are put upon our society in the form of quite a few issues over the last several decades which I consider to be “Watershed” issues, they are so divisive that there is no possible compromise to be worked out over them without abandoning all conviction.

One outstanding example, in my view has come with the legalization of abortion. America has been torn since the 1973 Roe vs Wade decision, which imposed abortion on demand onto every one of the fifty United States. I believe we have been severely divided ever since and have never recovered our former unity.

There have been many challenges to the “law” which legalized the killing of the unborn,  through  movements such as Operation Rescue, as the Judeo Christian part of America sought to reverse this atrocity, whilst the atheistically influenced aspect of our society has clung desperately to the “Right”, and up till now has successfully resisted every attempt to repudiate the law.

Before 1973 , it was possible for Americans to disagree with those of the opposite political party, and to imagine that though misguided, Democrats and Republicans could still attribute to each other the benefit of the doubt that we all mean well, even if we differ.

But with the advent of abortion on demand, no compromise is possible with those of us who truly believe Life begins at conception. How could anyone committed on any level to the slaughter of children in the womb, ever be granted the benefit of the doubt?

This watershed is very similar to the issue of slavery in the mid 19th century.  What does a person who believes in the inherent dignity of man made in the image of God, have in common with a person fighting to preserve the buying and selling of human beings? It took a Civil War to resolve that issue in America.

We have witnessed America splinter into two very distinct body politics since 1973, to the point where we can no longer really believe the line in the patriotic Hymn, America the Beautiful, which says “…and crowned thy good with Brotherhood….”. We have been torn apart by an issue so extreme that there is no way to reconcile it.

What we have witnessed since 1973, and particularly in the last 20 years, has been the rapid succession of several other similar watershed issues which are so charged with emotion, or with moral incongruity that once again neutrality is impossible. We just can’t stretch far enough to accommodate these new issues, they are fracturing us even further than the abortion issue once did.

Now it is not just the body politic which has been split and wedged, but communities, and even families are being pulled apart, by issues which didn’t even exist 50 years ago, and wouldn’t have ever been considered by anybody.

How do people who recognize the validity of Marriage ever reconcile with the promotion of “gay marriage”? What to do with a “gay son” or daughter, who wants to impose a “partner” on the family? Does one merely learn to accept without judgment, thus denying ones principles?

Another divisive issue is “Climate Change”. There are those of us (I put myself in this category) who see in this issue a gigantic hoax, Government sponsored “research” to come up with findings which scare the populations of the World into willingly forking over voluminous taxes in order to fight ” climate change”, (which recently was global heating, but in the 1970s when I came of age, was “Global cooling” and the coming “Ice age”).

The young, however, are thoroughly propagandized and terrorized into thinking we have to save the planet, and that any Government means are acceptable to do so, no matter how confiscatory.

They do not have the ‘benefit’ of having already seen the TIME magazine cover warning of the new ICE Age to come,(1976) or of having read “The POPULATION BOMB” scenarios that were wildly popular in their time but eventually disproven. Many of us have seen this hoax before in a number of forms, and are unimpressed, but this terrifies and in some cases enrages the young.

So we have scenarios wherein families argue vociferously every time they get together.Young people are tempted to hate the parents who just don’t think the earth is on the verge of destruction. The propaganda they are filled with causes them to see us as greedy, exploitive, and insensitive. This pressure is so intense it is breaking us up.

To accept many of these new issues involves an exchange, a compromise at the cost of our very soul.I can’t accept homosexuality and the redefinition of marriage. Nor can I accept Islam, or any other false religion. Anyone who in any way supports abortion simply cannot be a good person, by definition!

Perhaps the most diabolical fault line constructed is along racial lines. The new racial theorists are pulling people apart at the seams, they are exploiting the innate sense of fair play and compassion of young people, imposing upon them a sense of guilt and shame, which is actually demonic.

I speak of “White Privilege”.

If there was ever a demon inspired way to divide people and to make sure reconciliation is nigh impossible, the critical race theorists have created it. How would I ever be able to relate to anyone, when my very existence carries the baggage of “privilege”. At the outset I owe a debt I can never repay, to every “person of color” I come across. I have somehow oppressed them just by existing.

Furthermore these doctrines are enticing and even corrupting to those who benefit by them. Who would want to accept a message of personal responsibility when you can be empowered to automatically assume the mantle of the moral higher ground, “victim status” no matter what your personal past reveals? I believe these doctrines have led directly to the violent street protests, the “Knockout game” and a host of other manifestations of violent intolerance across our land.

Somehow, even if homeschooled , young people pick this idea up and imbibe it, it seems to be in the air, and accepted as common knowledge.

We are all part of a racist system (That means you, Mom and Dad) and we all have to admit that we have wrongly benefitted at the expense of people of color everywhere. America is being torn apart at the seams, it is being destroyed and divided. Ironically America is the least racist place on the planet!

Sorry, I already have a religion, which gives me a true account of original sin, and offers me forgiveness and a system of redemption. I will never submit to any other, not even this new secular , hate filled religion which offers no redemption, or forgiveness, only rage on the one hand and craven fake guilt on the other.

A house divided cannot stand… . This is only going to get worse. We must pray for our families and seek ways to overcome these divisive traps that the enemy himself has lain for us. We can still heed the admonition in Romans 12, “Be not overcome of evil but overcome evil with good”.

  1. Rita Lindhag says:

Satan is definitely working hard. In my own family, some won’t speak to each other, and my niece never wants to see us again because of our belief in the One True God. Very sad and tragic.

  2. Dan Wasserman says:

Hello Pastor Bill. I agree entirely with your view. If you think America is bad the you have not yet experienced what us white people have to live with both in Zimbabwe and South Africa. We are under communism or de-facto Communism which is also name socialism or communitarianism. I am experiencing this problem from my own children.

  3. katieniowa says:

    Thanks, Pastor Bill!

Very timely! But conscience won’t allow the crossing over. Much as we love the people! Lord help us stay strong thru the end!

  4. julie says:

Wow, Pastor Bill, you have certainly knocked it out of the park with this post. My husband and I are Christians and would agree with you wholeheartedly on the issues of abortion, redefining marriage, and climate change (BTW, isn’t it supposed to? And if the polar bears die out, isn’t this just survival of the fittest? but i digress) . Our grown children however are adamantly on the other side of the issues. Our youngest child was homeschooled, but in his early twenties he rejected everything he had been taught, including his professed faith in Christ and is totally of the world now. The two older children want nothing to do with us, their parents. We do not get to see our dear grandchildren as a result. When it gets to this point, you cannot even have the simplest conversations with them because they are so militant in their beliefs. Even if you just listen to their side and keep silent that’s not enough. If they already know what you believe then, following the media’s script, they prejudge, condemn, and consider you intolerant just because you don’t agree with them. I suspect that they also don’t want others to think they support our beliefs by socializing with us. It is nearly this bad with the youngest child, but at least he tolerates us as long as we only listen to him pontificate and never state a contrary opinion. It is very interesting just how intolerant and legalistic the humanist atheist is. Only with God is there forgiveness, mercy and forbearance. Without Christianity, there is no longer any tolerance for others, it’s “my way or the highway.”.

    • Jeanne T. says:

Julie, I’m so sorry to hear of your situation. I don’t know your children’s names, but God does, and I will pray that they will see the truth and repent. I will also pray for you and your husband, that God would give you wisdom and grace as you deal with this.

      • julie says:

Jeanne, that is so kind of you. Thank you, thank you for your prayers. My prayer for myself is that I would keep a tender heart like the father in the prodigal story.

  5. I received this post on my Facebook feed from someone I cared about…and it just disheartened me and shocked me that this is the current view of Christianity. How can we battle against this?

    • RL says:

I read that article and while there are truths in it, there are some really serious red flags in it. He does make some alarming blanket statements. I agree our faith needs to be walked out in our everyday life or else it counts for nothing but his views on grace and his take that “God is all love” is frankly just a bunch of compromising nonsense. As I have heard Pas. Bill say many times, how can there be any love without truth! The truth is there are those who will choose to be disciples of Christ and those who will not. The Bible is very clear on that and that those who do not will be lost for all eternity. How can we, as Christians, know that and not tell people who do not know about the Gospel? Yes, there will be many who do not want to hear it. We also need to actually live what we preach. Of course, in this country there are too many who think they have their “get out of hell free card” and never do a thing to actually live as Christ taught we should live. It does not shock me that there are many people who have walked away from the faith that are commenting on that particular article. They like having some justification for what they have done. Shame on that author!

      • Jeanne T. says:

Well said, RL. I also read the article, and several others there as well, and came to the same conclusion as you.

      • I noticed there was somebody named Jim Grunseth who heroically tried to oppose the argument made by the writer of the article, but he was treated with absolute disdain. Eventually they wanted him to leave the discussion.

My rule of thumb when witnessing to those who oppose the Christian faith is to continue a discussion with them for as long as they want…until they shut it down and say they no longer want to hear anymore. And I always remain civil, loving, and kind through it all.

    • billrandles says:

You will notice further down his list of articles is an article presenting the homosexual version of the story of Sodom and gommorah- Beware!

      • Yes…sadly this website is an example of the divisive ideology that has pervaded our society. It takes root through the seductive use of sympathy and compassion, appealing to the willingness to compromise truth for the sake of those who would be “victimized” by that truth.

  6. Dan Kraf says:

Thank you for saying what needs to be said. Truth may hurt the feelings of those who want to compromise but hearing the truth may help them overcome the error they are entangled in. It is time we all stood up and contended for the truth – for Jesus Christ and His word. We must redeem the time given, and it is given “for such a time as this”. God bless you Pastor Bill.

  7. Dmarie says:

As hard as it is to witness – and as helpless as we may feel as we are despised and ‘hated’ for our very existence – there is a positive purpose happening here!
The “lukewarm” that Jesus despises is being driven out (even spit out of His mouth?)…
“Coexist” cannot happen – regardless of the bumper sticker admonition. Light/dark have no fellowship together, but until now it has been much too easy for those of us in the U.S. to claim to be ‘christians’ and yet be ‘of the world’ at the same time. The distinguishing line has been too gray. This is quickly coming to an end… and the Lord is sifting and refining.
I think of this portion of scripture VERY OFTEN during these last days:
“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord gave attention and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name. “They will be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “on the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” SO YOU WILL AGAIN DISTINGUISH between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.”
**Don’t forget: what our enemy means for evil, the LORD uses for GOOD 🙂 Amen!! Amen!!**

  8. Dmarie says:

Oh, and here is the rest… 🙂
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming will set them ablaze,” says the Lord of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” “But FOR YOU WHO FEAR MY NAME, the sun of righteousness WILL rise with healing in its wings; and you WILL go forth and skip about like calves from the stall. You WILL tread down the wicked, for they WILL be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,” says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 3-4

    • RL says:

      Amen and Amen!

    • Jeanne T. says:

Amen, Dmarie! I also love these verses from Daniel 12:3, 9-10

” 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above; and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever…… 9 He said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand. “

  9. Rosie Higgs says:

Just like the Lord said, He did not come to bring peace but a sword, and that sure has happened to those within a family who are born again and begin to preach the Gospel. Its happened to me and even more so to Muslims, Jews, Roman Catholics etc who come to faith, they can be thrown out of their family home and even hunted down to be killed for turning to Jesus. But to those who follow the Lord, whatever happens, peace reigns and we can love our enemies with God’s help and pray for those who persecute us.

  10. Reblogged this on Smiffy37's Blog and commented:
Excellent article by Bill Randles -it’s the same problems here in UK of course.

  11. 1blandina says:

Great post and great comments in general!

This is the topic of the hour so here we go!

The Lord is separating those who are loyal to Him from those who are not. This is sort of a summary of many comments already stated and so so true.

The thing is this. Once you turn your life over to Jesus, it is His, it is not yours anymore. You have signed a contract with the Lord. (No, this is not works salvation, this is what He expects of you.) You have stepped out of the dark and fallen world into His kingdom of light. That means you leave certain things behind and take on others. You now hold to the truth of God’s Word. You live by His guidelines. You repent and turn from sin. You leave the ways, culture, and deeds of the world. You no longer love the things of the world. You step into a new life in Christ. You share His truth with others because He told us to. (Great Commission). You live according to God’s laws and principles. (Matthew 28; 19, Bible). You separate from the world but fellowship with believers. When in the company of unbelievers, we don’t ‘turn our light off,’ but rather we ‘let our light shine.’ We are called to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. We uphold righteousness and oppose sin (abortion, gay marriage, etc.). We make no provision for false religions and we know Jesus is the only way to heaven. We confess Jesus in public. That is why we are here, to serve and glorify Him in word and in deed.

No one ever said this would be a breeze. Jesus Himself told us to ‘count the cost’. Yes, there is a cost. We will not be popular. We will probably not be rich. We will be looked at as odd, along with a long list of derogatory names and labels. We will be ostracized. We will be called ‘narrow minded’ and a ‘goody-goody.’ We will have friends and family depart from us. We might lose jobs or have to leave them. We may be put in jail, be persecuted in other ways, be beaten, or even murdered for our faith. But, that is what the church has faced all along and faces in most of the world and increasingly in the US also. It is, and will continue to get worse. But, that is what Jesus told us we would face for His Namesake. We don’t have the choice to deny Jesus when the going gets tough. Ours is not a private faith to be hidden. We leave it outside of no one’s door. It defines who we are, it is who we are, and it goes with us everywhere because Jesus lives in our hearts. We are also called to suffer for Him. (Philippians 1; 29) If we deny Jesus, He denies us, we must confess Him no matter what we are faced with. (Matthew 10; 32-33).

    We must finish the race!
They will call us haters but they hate us.
They call us intolerant, but they won’t tolerate us.
While discriminating against us, they accuse us of it.
    The list goes on.

They cry unity; we rally around the banner of God’s Truth.
They cry inclusion; we must separate from sin, false religion, and an unsaved world.
They cry tolerance; but we cannot compromise.
They cry common good; we cry the name of Jesus above all else.

The lines are being drawn more and more and made more pronounced. Each one is a choice to stand with or against the Lord. After the last line is drawn, I will be found in Christ. I hope to see you there. Ultimately, Christ is the line that is drawn, either you are for Him or against Him. It is He who separates the wheat from the chaff. (Matthew 10; 34 and many more)

    Run the race to win!
    God bless you.
