Jerusalem’s Final Conflict and Deliverance is Nigh…Zech 12 pt 1

Jerusalem’s Final Conflict and Deliverance is Nigh…Zech 12 pt 1
In view of last week’s UN Vote in which 151 nations voted that Israel , and of last weeks six UN anti Israel resolutions , on the day the UN designates “Palestinian day”, and in view of Today’s historic declaration by President Trump that Jerusalem is the Capitol of Jerualem,I  thought it fitting to re-run this 2010 esxposition of Zechariah 12. Prophecy is being fulfilled this very day! Maranatha!

This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares: “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. (Zechariah 12:1-3)

The last chapters of Zechariah have an amazing relevance to the world situation we see unfolding before us today. It is uttered in the name of the Creator God, who continuously sustains his creation, most notably of His ongoing work of creation, forming the spirit of man.

God , the creator ,will one day make Jerusalem to become a cup of trembling ,(KJV) , to those nations round about her.

The idea of a cup of trembling is a judgment administered , which causes the neighboring nations, to reel, to go mad, to lose the capacity for sound judgment which leads to self-destruction.

In the hand of the LORD is a cup
full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
drink it down to its very dregs. Psalm 75:8

True to this prophecy, the nations of the world are in great turmoil about the so-called “status” of Jerusalem. Though Jerusalem is manifestly the capital of the State of Israel, virtually none of the nations of the world will put an Embassy there, including the USA. They fear inflaming the Moslem near neighbors of Israel.

The Obama administration has attempted to make the appeasement of the Muslim world a centerpiece of its foreign policy. Therefore it has taken an unprecedented US stance toward Israel especially regarding Jerusalem and Judea. See Obama and Judea

Obama and his secretary of state have called for a strict “no natural growth” policy for Judea,(The West Bank), and they severely condemned Israel for approving the building of housing Units in East Jerusalem. see Administration Condemns Jerusalem Housing.

Islam has been claiming that Jerusalem has never been anything but a Muslim city, one of the “holiest’ sites of the Muslim faith. Yet the Koran doesn’t mention Jerusalem by name anywhere.

In its effort to erase any sign of Jewish history in Jerusalem, the Wafq, the Muslim custodianship of the temple mount, has been moving tons of rubble from beneath the surface of the site of the temple, dumping it in gravel pits outside of the city. Archeologists are finding priceless artifacts of the previous two temples in the rubble.

There is a reference in the Koran to “Al Aqsa”, literally, the “farthest place” from Mecca, where Mohammed supposedly rode a winged horse en route to a heavenly Muslim prayer meeting with Jesus and Moses. It is interesting that in Obama’s Cairo speech to the Muslim world, he referenced this obscure story, “the Isra” , the sole Muslim claim to Jerusalem, and that only by inference.

The Bible ,however has more than 800 direct references to Jerusalem. It is “the city of the great King”, the “Joy of the whole earth”, Mt Zion, the sight of the future capital of the world, the counterpart to “the heavenly Jerusalem”. God is “zealous for Jerusalem with a great fury” we are told earlier in Zechariah.

Jerusalem, we are told by our Lord Jesus, will be trodden under foot of the Gentiles until the time of the Gentiles be fulfilled. For the time being, it is as “Sodom and Egypt”, (Revelation 11) ,but is destined to be the city where Righteousness dwells, and out of which the Law of the Lord shall stream forth to all of the world. No wonder there is such a storm around it.

The UN wants to make it an international city, the Vatican wants custodianship over it, Islam claims it as one of its holiest sites, The Gentiles insist on it being divided into two cities, One the capital of the “Palestinian” state, the other side the capital of the Jewish state. Islam doesn’t like the name Jerusalem, they call it “Al Quds”, and so did a senior Obama security advisor in a speech recently. There is a storm brewing exactly as the Prophet said it would, God is making Jerusalem a cup of trembling, making mad the nations of the world.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem, but longing so much for home, b/c this is not r home and we r just passing through
    Thank God!
Praying for the persecuted church as well
I am sure they want to be home as well
So many family and friends but I am putting my house in order
Leaving clear directions so that they can understand what has happened and not take the mark of the beast.
Patient endurance comes to mind but I so hope this is it
Anyhow…I do know that it is one day closer to the Rapture
One day closer to the one I love.

    Thank you Pastor Bill,
Can you explain please why so many Christians think Israel is being blessed now because of Jubilee? I can’t see how God would bless a Godless nation as Israel is. And I understand that Jesus partially fulfilled Jubilee as the favorable year of the Lord in Luke 4. Also, that America is blessed because Trump has done this, I can’t see God blessing America as they don’t need His Son.😢 Please help me with understanding.
    Thank you,
    Amber

Good questions Amber,I will seek to answer as best as I can. Israel is not yet blessed, because they have come back to their Land in unbelief,as the Prophets told us they would,in the last days(Ezekiel 36)but they have indeed ,by specific acts of God,beenbriught back to their land after two thousand years. The Jubilee issue is a way of showing that these things are happening in God,s good hand and not merely randomly. For example 1917 was the year of theBalfour declaration, and the year theBritish general Allenby captured Jerusalem from the Turks. What came 50years later? It was in 1947that America led the world in recognizing the new nation called”the land of Israel” .
in 1967 the Jewish nation captured Jerusalem in the six day war. fifty years later we. See The Trump declaration about Jerusalem, within a week after151 world leaders denounced the idea that Jerusalem has any connection to the Jews.
There are 500 year patterns at playas well as 50and seventy year patterns also, showing those willing to see that God is at work in all of this.
as for the Blessing on America, I assure you, there are millions of fervent Christians here still, pray for us

“We will move the American Embassy to the eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem” was Trump’s contingent promise as a presidential candidate.

Many hoped that cold January inauguration day, might hold the fulfillment of that promise, but it came and went without so much as a word. Likewise, the first several months of his presidency. Then in June, he signed a waiver postponing the embassy’s relocation. And, during his first trip to Israel as president in this regard, from Trump there was only silence. In October, Trump backpedaled once again, alleging the elusive Israel and Palestine peace process as his first priority.

However, on Dec. 6, 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump formally recognized Jerusalem as the “the eternal capital of the Jewish people.”

Now evangelicals are pondering what it all means, considering the constraints under which Trump made the decision, i.e., being “tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind” of anti-Semitism.

Last year, just before the first day of Chanukah the U.N. Security Council voted — world 14, Israel 0. Yesterday’s vote would have been essentially the same, but for “let’s make a deal” Trump’s vindictive “Let them vote against us. We’ll save a lot. We don’t care” referring to U.N. funding as well as U.N. member nation funding cuts.

Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem was courageous and commendable. However, Jerusalem will continue as before, to be trodden down of the Gentiles, and peace in that regard will remain an illusion. Says who?

Jesus prophesied what was to come in 70 AD — “they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” (cf. Luke 21:24).

This very day, Jerusalem continues to be trodden down of the Gentiles, and will be until the “times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” But when will that be?
The Apostle Paul informs us “that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in” (Rom 11:25). However, there will be a time when Israel’s darkness as a nation will be light.
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn” (Zec 12:9-10).
Ever want to know when the LORD will return in Judgment? Jesus told the Nation of Israel “exactly” when it would be!
“Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.” (Mat 23:39).

Prophecy in Hebrew also means the end. I look at Romans 9 10 and 11 and see how G-d blinded the Jews to Messiah. but also like stated above they will all be saved. I also read in Rev one , two and three how G-d tells us He would have had us hot or cold, but says, but you are lukewarm and He will spit those luke warm out of His mouth, and right after says to the ones ready to meet HIM, Come UP Hither. We used to sing a song in church called wait a little longer please Jesus, there are so many wondering out in sin etc. but as we see the time of His coming is really here, and the world like it is makes us say come quickly L-rd Yeshua. In the meantime reach out to all we can with the precious gospel shalom

  6. kim segar says:

also forgot to say, that in Romans 9-10 and 11 that He blinded the Jews so us heathen gentiles would have the power to become sons of G-d. the churches today think we are little gods, they are wrong. and they did not replace Israel ever. those who love the Jews and the L-rd will rule with the Jews. replacing the word Israel and putting in church is changing the word of G-d which the Bible says is to curse us. I thank G-d for Bill and pray for him, a wonderful teacher. shalom

  7. Maureen Leigh says:

The more I learn it seems the less I know. Thank you pastor Bill, you are in my prayers.
