The Stones They Trip Over…Messianic Psalms pt 10

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.(Psalm 2:1-6)

The Kings of the Earth and their rulers have come into open opposition against the LORD and His Messiah. The basic issue of the conflict is the desire by the world ‘movers and shakers’ to break the bondage of the christian religion, and to usher in a bold, new, godless world order.

But there is a two-fold touch point in the conflict, that God mentions in his response to them. They are the King God has appointed, and the Holy Hill of Zion, which God calls ‘mine’. these are the two specific points of offense that the whole world stumbles over.

The most contested piece of real estate in the world is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The center of the world is Israel, the center of Israel is Jerusalem and the center of Jerusalem is the temple mount.

The destruction of the second Jewish temple was predicted by Jesus in Matthew 24, and Daniel in Daniel 9

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.(Matthew 24:1-2)

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;(Daniel 9:26)

Daniel also predicted that the temple mount would suffer “the abomination that makes desolate“. Not long after the destruction of the second temple, the Romans built a shrine to Jupiter on the Holy mount, fulfilling Daniel’s prophecy.

Islam has desecrated the temple mountain, by building the “dome of the rock” and the Mosque of Omar there hundreds of years ago. Although the Jews regained the city of Jerusalem in the 1967 war, Israel allowed the Jordanian religious Waqf to maintain custodianship of it to this day.

Jesus said that Jerusalem would be “trodden underfoot of the gentiles until the time of he gentiles be fulfilled”.

The Muslims have undertaken a continuous campaign to eradicate any trace of a Jewish presence on the Holy Mountain, hauling out with earthmovers tons of rubble containing priceless relics of the previous two temples, and dumping them in gravel pits.

The Temple Mount is a very sensitive piece of real estate. We must remember that the Intifada that utimately led t0 9-11 began when Ariel Sharon took a walk on the temple mount in the fall of 2000.

The Temple mount is the holiest site in Judaism .It is the only place on earth where God is said to have placed his name. The Bible is full of references to it, the Psalms in particular are replete with the mention of Mt Zion.

The Quran makes no mention of Jerusalem. Yet somehow the temple mount has become the third Holiest site in Mecca and Medina. The Muslims seek to hollow the mountain out and make of it a giant mosque.

The rest of world in an effort to please and placate Muslims would pressure Israel into ceding more “Land for peace”, up to and including Jerusalem and the temple mount.

The U.N. has recently gone so far as to designate the Temple MT in Jerusalem as a Muslim Holy site with no connection to Jerusalem, through its recent UNESCO vote, (United Educational,Scientific,Cultural Organization). UNESCO has also apportioned the tomb of Abraham,Isaac,Jacob,Sarah and Leah as a Muslim Holy site, and added Rachel’s tomb to the list as well.

But God is the one who has asserted that it is His Holy Mount, where he has set His King to rule the world. As we come closer to the end this controversy sharpens, as Zechariah predicted it would,

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.(Zechariah 12:2-3)

The vision pictures the Kings of the earth heading down the road to a new world order, when lo and Behold, A stumbling stone blocks the path. The Nation that seeks to remove the stone shall literally be “lacerated” for the trouble.

This would be in the day when Israel’s near neighbors set themselves in seige round about, and at the time when the Trial for the whole earth draws near.Psalm 2 is definitely eschatological.

“There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down” Jesus “pronounced” as He departed “Herod’s” gleaming white marble temple gilded with gold, through white marble colonnades he would never walk again, amid its vaulted archways and grand stairways. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, His disciples came saying, “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?”

Adding “nothing” more regarding the “judgment” He had pronounced, the Lord continued “… many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and shall lead many astray. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled: for these things must needs come to pass; but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places. But all these things are the beginning of travail” (Mat 24:5-8).

The Greek word rendered “travail” ὠδίν ōdin is used to describe a woman in the pangs of birth. We appear to be seeing subtle manifestations of that “beginning of travail.” Unfortunately, Christendom is focused, if focused at all, on “Israel’s” prophetic “flowchart,” rather than its own, unaware that the “beginning of travail” follows that which “must” come before, i.e., “The Quickening.”

As a mother senses that twinkling” sensation of life within, when the child latent in the darkness of her womb emanates that first discernible affirmation of life, so will the “Body of Christ” sense that “twinkling sensation of life within when “caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air” (cf. 1 Thes 4:17).

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We all shall not sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Cor 15:51-52).

“The Quickening” is the consummation of a seven faceted mystery “which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (cf. Col 1:26-27).
