This Generation Needs Truth and Love… (Spiritual Warfare)

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12)

I happened upon the formation of a Black Lives Matter protest, on a University campus not far from my home. I was helping a friend preach Christ in the Open air, and it just so happened that this group was rallying for their own march and protest.

Several things struck me as we interchanged with these young people;

  1. Many of these BLM protests have devolved into absolute lawlessness, ranging from graffiti on public and private property to out and out violence against police and even bystanders. But I was amazed when I noticed that almost all of these protestors were absolutely scrupulous to the point of being Puritanical about the wearing of masks. On several occasions they adamantly resisted the two of us , that we didn’t wear one.

One girl on the street was so triggered she shrieked as she approached us, her face contorted in rage. I couldn’t understand what she was saying, but someone interpreted it to me, “You aren’t wearing a Mask! , If Jesus were real He would be wearing a @#$%^#& MASK!”

2. There were several who affirmed that Communism was right and true. One young man, who looked like he stepped right out of middle America, “the boy next door”, was walking by as we were preaching Christ, Repentance, the coming of Jesus, and warning of sin and it’s wages. The Lad walked up to me and said with conviction and assurance, “Communism is Right”. I could only tell him in reply, “Tell Venezuala that, would you?”.

3. It is kind of unnerving to be in a gathering, mostly dressed in black, some with body armor on, others with hand coverings to protect the fists, and for the most part their faces were all covered. All we could communicate with were the eyes. I saw a lot of hate in some eyes, much anger, and very much hurt.

4. There was cynicism and remorse too. Many told me, that they had “tried Christianity” and cast it off as useless, untrue or not workable in the light of their own experience. They have a new religion, Atheistic “Wokeness”.

Some of these protestors asked me why we hated them. Hate them? We don’t hate them, we love them, I explained. One lesbian said ‘but you preach against my very existence…you must hate me’. We patiently explained that the fact that we take the trouble to preach to them, (Knowing that they easily could be offended, triggered or even worse) is out of love for their soul. God loved them and in God’s name so do we.

Jesus has compassion for this generation. They are the fruit of America’s swing towards godlessness in the 1960s. They are also the fruit of the Sexual revolution. Many have gone to University and become debauched by the “College Experience”, and have been lectured and bullied by their professors out of any “faith” they once held.

A good many are trapped in the victim mentality, if they happen to be one of the “favored minority groups (Sexual, racial, Muslim, etc). What a trap to be fed a steady diet of resentment, and of twisted version of History.

What a trap also to constantly be told you are part of the “privileged group” that has benefitted at the expense of others. This is the new version of the doctrine of sin. Unfortunately there is no forgiveness available. Small wonder there is so much suicide among the young.

There is one possibility for redemption among the “Privileged”, and that would be to hate yourself and your culture to the point where you are willing to enter into the struggle. Thus most of the Protests were white. They demanded of my friend and I, Why weren’t we joining the march, for surely Jesus would be protesting against police brutality.

We explained to them that Jesus certainly wouldn’t be joining them, and that he lived in a far more brutal time. He came to do something much more profound and far reaching, to die for all of our sins, and that He would establish true justice soon at his coming. Furthermore Jesus would never join BLM because he wasn’t a Marxist agitator.

Not only are these new “Woke” teaching Marxist to the core, but on a deeper level they are Satanic. Satan has devised a new civic religion to capture the children, “Wokeness”. I have never seen any teaching which is so divisive as this new “woke” religion.

There are many who are losing family members to this new cult, it is very heavily favored with money and support in corporate America, and in the Media. This is a Spiritual war and must be fought Spiritually.

We must move towards these damaged young people while we can and if we can, and patiently hear them out, and challenge,(in Love) their false doctrines. I am going to try to address these issues as able in the weeks ahead. LOVE conquers hate and the Light penetrates the darkness…Shalom….

I had quite a different experience than you. I joined a Black Lives Matter campaign one weekend (wearing my Team Jesus shirt) because I am extremely disturbed about the history of violence against people of color. I believe that there is support in the Bible to stand up for the rights of the oppressed and feel that I am in a privileged class…much has been given me, much will be expected. My voice is powerful.
While later, I decided against re-joining these protests (for now)…I found the protesters to be respectful and absolutely full of love. I did not witness the things you witnessed, although several times during the day “agitators” would drive through and it seemed their role was to get things stirred up. I recognized that there were many different types of people in the crowd and that it would be judgmental to categorize them as a whole.
I thought a great deal about BLM and researched their movement. I came to a conclusion that they were yet another “organization” that had found momentum and seemed to have additional agendas. I found that God was not in it (neither do I find God in demonstrations of the “Right”) and I decided against supporting BLM further…HOWEVER, I still say “Black Lives Matter” (not the organization but the sentiment) and I am praying for justice and looking for other ways to “stand up for the rights of the oppressed”.
I know this is a difficult thing to contend with, Bill. Nevertheless, we should remain objective and remember that the Law of the Spirit is summed up in one word — and that word is LOVE. When we are “lawless”, we are without love.
I’m challenging you and your readers to do the research and try to see and feel the hurt and pain of those less fortunate than us. People have really suffered in the history of this country and its important that we know and come to terms with that history. How would you feel if the shoe were on the other foot? Are you open to reading some history books? Also, are there books you can recommend to me so that I can understand more where you are coming from? I have already researched this so-called “social Marxism” and do not agree with its tenets, however I do NOT believe democracy is a Kingdom principle either…it is full of “self” and “independence”.

I hope you are not offended and I pray you will try to be objective in what you post. You have many people reading your posts and your words strike fear in people’s hearts. We are not called to fear.

Remember: “A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.” (Prob. 15:18)

    Thank you brother.

I really appreciate your letter Brigitte. There are so many issues you have raised, perhaps this will stimulate a good conversation, as none of us know everything, (except the LORD), and ever story has at least two sides. The Word of God tells us the we shouldn’t be partial to the Rich, OR THE POOR, in judgment,

Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour. Leviticus 19:15

I am glad that you experienced love and acceptance at the BLM rally you attended, obviously not all rallies in all cities are going to be the same.
As for being part of a “Privileged class”, I do not know about you or your background, but am wary of the expression “White Privilege” and the philosophy that employs it. It is designed to divide and enrage on the one hand and it imposes a false guilt on the other.

I feel it is against my religion to allow anyone to put a sense of guilt on me, merely because of my skin color, anymore than I would ever impute any characteristic to anyone else by virtue of their skin color. It is racist and unfair to do so. I have my own sins, for which Jesus died on the cross, no one is going to be able to condemn me for any supposed “ancestral, group sins”. That would be a denial of Christ.

History is brutal, because it is the sad story of fall men and the way they abuse and have abused each other. Slavery and Racism are , unfortunately universal plagues, they have always existed , they till do exist, and wherever unregenerate men are not restrained, they will exist, unto the LORD comes in his Kingdom to establish true and everlasting justice.

The exception in History is the fact that Britain and America made the radical decision (based upon Christianity) to do away with their own slavery. To this day in much of Africa, (Which I have traveled widely) and in the Muslim world, one can buy human beings as slaves. Women, and Children are being bought and sold as slaves also, of all colors and hues, in the modern pagan sexual trafficking trade. In view of that, I refuse to let a Cabal of Marxists and Anarchists tell me I am racist, or am benefitted by a racist system. This is a Spiritual battle at heart.

      Black lives Matter as an organization is AntiChristian. Here is an eceprpt from they website;

“We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.”

“We foster a queer‐affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise).”
Obviously the saying “Black Lives matter…” is true, so also do White lives, Yellow lives, red lives, in fact All lives, for Man is made in the Image of God, and is precious to God and should be to all of us.

The very demonstration which I happened upon, ended in an Arrest, a Black Lives chapter head, was arrested for assaulting a police officer with a laser, trying to blind him! Satan is working in all of this.

I am definitely not offended by your letter, I count it an honor to address some of these issues.
As a matter of fact the “shoe is on the other foot ” more often than you think. I have experienced racism an even attempted assault merely because I was white, and hundreds of thousands are experiencing the same or much worse on a regular basis. (I do not write out of a response to it, as I believe in personal and individual guilt and not group guilt). All I am saying is that hatred, ignorance and violence due to race is a two way street.

I agree with you that LOVE is the only answer, Christian LOVE to be specific, which is why I closed my article with the admonition to not be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good. I know people are hurting and need compassion.
I have a question, Why do you think my writing inspires fear? If anything I would hope they inspire the Fear of the LORD, but I do not want to scare anyone in any other sense.

One book I think I have found valuable -White Guilt by Shelby Steele and another Black Rednecks by Thomas Sowell
Thanks for your input and I hope this helps.

  2. Andrew Beamish says:

    Hi Pastor Bill

I was reading yesterday in 1 Kings 4 about Elisha and the Shunammite boy that he raised from the dead. What stuck out to me was that when Gehazi placed the staff upon the face of the child it did not bring the child to life.

2Ki 4:33  He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD.
2Ki 4:34  And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm.
2Ki 4:35  Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

Bring them face to face with Jesus was my conclusion but re looking at it, the starting point is being vexed for them then prayer.

What I am reading today is we need The Spirit which is probably part of the problem with children falling away from Christianity. They need the Spirit too.

Luk 4:36  And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

It is essential that we have the Spirit to give us the boldness ( power ) and authority ( words ) to preach the gospel like Elisha did.
Luk 4:18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Luk 4:19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)

  4. GJ says:

Is the suffering the problem or what we do with it? We all suffer in this world… it’s cursed. God says we’re blessed when we hurt, if we seek Him. We’re all “destitute” in God’s eyes… but we all want to be “superior” in our own eyes.

Isaiah 54 6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.

Matthew 5 3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Luke 4: 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Revelation 3 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

To not point the grieved to Christ who has the only power to wash clean, heal, and restore does no one any good. Nothing get’s solved. Yes, we’re to weep with the hurting… but to leave it at that point, without discussing redemption… is that love? The rebuke of conviction is not pleasant… but it’s essential—it’s the incentive to repent of our sins.

    Ezekiel 13 22 Because with lies ye have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad, and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive;

Proverbs 8 6 Hear; for I [Wisdom] will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge

I totaally agree sister… we are to preach Christ, repentance and the wages of sin…which is the deepest problem of all, “Social Justice” is man centered, it turns no one to God, only against each other…

  5. Dear Pastor Bill. Matt and I need your prayers if you don’t mind. Things in Melbourne are deteriorating rapidly and we are at the point of considering moving interstate. It would however break our heart to have to move from our aging parents, family , friends etc. But we are living under a wicked totalitarian government which is becoming unbearable. I am wondering if I could ask your opinion on this because we have elderly parents here plus many we minister to. But our kids are being affected, they no longer can go to school, see their grandparents or friends (legally). Lucy says she doesn’t want to live here anymore. Our son Tom is crying and distressed every day. We are feeling desperate. Sorry to ask you but we feel we need godly wisdom to know what to do and how to protect our children. Lots of love to you and Kristen

  6. Deemar says:

For those who believe that Jesus would be a part of any movement:
Jesus would never join Himself into any human “cause”…
He is ONLY about His Father’s business, and His Kingdom is not of this world.

These causes/movements are all bunny-trails of humanism – which distract from the Truth.
As stated above, we are ALL depraved in various ways and accursed in our natural state…
WE ALL need the Truth, which brings the ‘fear of the Lord’ and thus the BEGINNING of any True wisdom – which can lead to repentance and faith in the Only One who can save us from ourselves!

All races, nationalities, etc: “YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN” into Jesus, That is truly our only hope.

Thank you, Bill, for encouraging we sheep to STAY focused on our Great Shepherd and what He has called us to do… not overcoming evil with evil, but preaching Truth in Love as long as we are able.
