Silver Linings (?) On a Dark and Cloudy Day…

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ( Romans 8:28)

Could there be some silver linings on this dark and cloudy day? As a Christian, I do believe there are, as long as we have the courage to see them and rejoice for them.

Now That Biden has taken office…

We can now let go of our faith in “civic Religion” once and for all, and return to our true religion, (Christianity). I don’t blame anyone for being happy when Trump was elected. I was elated, because I so dreaded the corrupt and ultra leftist Clinton presidency, I felt like we had been given a reprieve from God. But I knew it was only a temporary reprieve.

Furthermore I was one of the 75 million who voted for another four years for Trump. Like a large number of other Christians, I was happy for the direction Trump was taking the country. I have no regrets whatsoever voting for Him, I think He has been the greatest President we have had in my lifetime.

But Politics can often take on a religious dimension, especially in America which has two souls, (That of a Puritan or Pilgrim i.e. Plymouth, and that of a Self seeking prospector i.e. Jamestown). Even the Leftists made a great show of Religion today, singing Amazing Grace and Praying to the “Collective” Faiths.

I could see this plainly in the recent events, in American Public Life. Trump has been publicly and unfairly reviled, indeed and the hatred of him by the “powers that be” has exposed the vicious nature of our ruling elite. I think one of Trump’s callings was as an exposer of hearts.

The persecution of Trump and his followers is to the extent where in some people’s mind, Trump almost takes on a Messianic Status…Despised and rejected as in Isaiah 53. Furthermore since the election there have been false prophecies about his eventual triumph, invoking martial law and so forth. These predictions will continue into Biden’s reign, a kind of “Trump Redidivus” myth, like Nero’s.

Now a good many false prophets have been exposed, and I suppose that also is a silver lining. But remember that Jeremiah also warned that “My people loved to have it so…”, meaning that false prophets only cater to false lusts in backslidden people.

A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? (Jeremiah 5:30-31)

As we watched the pseudo religious ceremony today, by the promoters of Abortion, Gay marriage and even Transvestitism, we see that they had to salt their ceremony with the trappings of faith , because there is still a great residue of Christianity, even on the left. It has been hollowed out, and there remain only the fumes for the most part, but America is a largely religious nation.

Let us face it, We on the right, have been defeated, deeply and profoundly in the earthly realm.

How could there ever be another “fair” election, when nothing was done and there was no recourse about the flagrant theft of this last one? Every institution of recourse has utterly failed to show up, and the “Capitol Assault” will be used as Hitler once employed the Reichstag Fire, to annihilate any resistance to His domestic “enemies”.If the election was already “close” what will happen when the Dems baptize 11 million illegals who want handouts?

We were defeated in a worldly arena, So we can now see what John told us by Revelation, that “The Whole World Lies in the Wicked One”.

What we wanted was good, indeed; lower taxes, relief from oppressive Government, Freedom of Speech, and for the Sanctity of Life. We should have fought for this and will always stand for it, as Christians.

But I have no faith in our system, it is corrupt and rigged against a certain viewpoint. Perhaps it is a good thing to be brought to this point, so that we will instead put all of our faith in a ‘system’ that will never fail us, The Kingdom of God!

The verse comes to mind,

But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. (Hebrews 10: 32-35)

We are now in company with most of the Saints throughout the Ages, We in the West have been living an anomaly, we have lived under a system and Government which hasn’t been overtly hostile to Christianity.

Slowly and steadily that has been changing, as Leftists have gained power to implement AntiChristian policies. One result of this new coldness, could be that some will become aware of the reality of the gospel as they see Christians keep faith even under various pressures.

Another result will be that Christians who are compromised and worldly will possibly become more serious about their faith. Apathy has been the constant bane of those of us who plead for souls to be saved and to wake up to God and His claims on their lives.

I Pray that backsliders, compromisers and even false converts will wake up and realize how greatly we all need God. I have to admit, that is more likely when things in society don’t go our way, and when the darkness encroaches on our daily life to a greater degree than before. Being a conservative is not the same as being a Christian. I pray that this becomes more obvious to more people.

It hurts, on so many levels. But sometimes pain is really helpful, and even heals. Let’s face reality and seek the LORD as never before. The respite was only a respite, the “better days” are not coming back, we are instead heading into a labor of birth situation, for the end of the World is as a women who goes into labor, and brings forth a trial after labor and transition. Jesus is coming, and the New Age of Righteousness is the ‘baby’ we all wait for.

Let us take comfort in these Words of Jesus,

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. ( John 16:21-22)

I’m right there with you,Pastor. I’m praying that more wake up out of their sleepy spell and really see spiritually what is going on and where our nation is headed (was prayerfully thinking about our leaders – never too late to truly repent), We. as believers, really need to be the light of Christ out there now and I am quietly excited to see how His Truth marches on and breaks through.
Our Hope is from beyond the veil and I cling to this.

    Well spoken Pastor Bill.
Even from England it was heartbreaking to hear that dreadful prayer offered ‘. In the name of all faiths’ and not in the ‘. Name above All Names..’
what a dreadful day for America.

We are full of sorrow for you all and as we ponder from the other side of the world (Australia) what we are about to see unfold, affecting us all, we pray for you that you would find joy in the knowledge of our hope and continue to look up! There is an appointed time and God has given us his word so that we would know what was to come, keep running the race and fighting the fight as the Apostle Paul put it so well. Be encouraged with Paul’s words to Timothy, 2 Timothy 3:1-9,14-17; 4:1-8. I long for that glorious day when all of the works of the evil one will be put to rest once and for all, and we can finally be at rest with the Most High!

I have read all your post.

    I am sad today!

    It feels like Judges 16:23

  6. Daniel says:

Yes it is a sad day… This USA new President and associates do not know what is reserved for them “….because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand” (Mat 13:13). But the Lord’s people who love and obey Him know by His Holy Spirit the promise they have “…blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear” (Mat 13:16).
Psa 37:12  The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
Psa 37:13  The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
Psa 37:14  The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
Psa 37:15  Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
Psa 37:16  A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
Psa 37:17  For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
Psa 37:18  The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Psa 37:19  They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Psa 37:20  But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

I am sad that you chose to use your blog to tell us your political views. I am neither a Trump or Biden supporter. I believe God chooses our rulers to fulfill his purpose. I don’t think this is the place to share your view of American politics. It has caused such a horrible division in our country and not something I think God wants us to share with others so to not cause offense to anyone. Just my view. PS I live in America.

    • Daniel says:

It is strange Susan you believe, although I would agree with that point, that God chooses the rulers to fulfill his purpose yet, seem not to accept that the horrible division in the country would be a consequence of these choices. The offence that may arise in reason of that choice from God is a consequence of the relationship of the people of the country towards God himself. Therefore the logic would want to show that expressing these views would be a normal conclusion of those who care about the choice of President and the consequence of the relationship of the people in general to God. This is in doing abstraction of the lack, in these last two decades if not more (shows God patience), of positive influence the Church in general has had over the behavior of the people in the country in general. It is not a new problem and can be observed in studying the history of the nation of Israel through the Prophets of old’s writings. When the word of God through the Prophets says tothe people, “you preach but do not do”. It is not because some call themselves by God’s name that they are pleasing to Him.
The division that may be observed and offences that it may produce this day would need to be seen as a reminder of what sort of believer we are and should be. A self assessment in the light of God’s requirements in righteousness and obedience to His ways.
