They Think Their Time Has Come…(Arab Spring)

For the day of the LORD [is] near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.(Obadiah 1:15)

The Muslim world has a long memory; much of it centers around its golden age of seemingly unbroken successes, conquering the middle east, North Africa, Spain and much of Eastern Europe in an amazingly short period of time.

Muslims also have bitter memories; such as being decisively stopped in Europe, at the gates of  Vienna, crushed at Lepanto, and eventually colonized for a brief time by western European powers. By the end of world war 1 the Caliphate was dismantled and the Islamic world power seemed a thing of the past.

Into the modern world, the Islamic world was left behind to their own stagnant and backwards societies as the rest of the world proceeded on into the Industrial, technological, and scientific future.

It wasn’t supposed to work out that way! How could infidel powers be allowed to humiliate Muslims ?

The ultimate humiliation was  “al-Naqba”, that is “the Disaster” imposed upon the Arab Middle East in May of 1948, the establishment of Israel as a nation. The impotence of Allah was put on display in the four major wars fought between Israel and the combined armies of  her Arab neighbors, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia.

The ongoing  existence and supremacy (military, economic, social) of the state of Israel is a bitter thorn in the hand of those who believe the Koran and who hate Israel, and Israel’s God. Once again it doesn’t seem to make sense in view of the Koran, it actually calls the existence and power of the god of the Koran into question.

But with the recent events occurring in the world; the worldwide desperation for oil, the muslim friendly  Obama administration, and the so-called “Arab spring”, many are beginning to believe perhaps all of this humiliation is about to be reversed. They believe that their long-awaited time of return to former dominance is coming.

Here is a typical example of this hope from a June 10, 2011 address by Egyptian cleric Safwat Higazi, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV ;

” Jerusalem will not be liberated through conferences, accords, or agreements. Jerusalem will be liberated only through a sacred march by millions. Millions of young Arabs will set out from all Arab countries in order to liberate Jerusalem once again. This will happen in the near future, Allah willing, whether people like it or not.

Before the [Egyptian] revolution, we would say: “Never mind if we do not live to see victory and the liberation of Jerusalem. The important thing is that we lay another brick on that path. Our children, our grandchildren, or our great-grandchildren will liberate Jerusalem.

After the Egyptian revolution, I do not say this anymore. Allah willing, we will be liberating Jerusalem ourselves, and we will pray in Jerusalem, Allah willing. We will be the ones to be martyred on the threshold of Jerusalem. We shall not wait for our children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. Time is pressing. We will be liberating Jerusalem, Allah willing.”

The wave of protest in the Arab world which has already overthrown  harsh dictatorships, such as in Egypt and in Yemen, is not a popular longing for democracy as we know it. Rather it is all calculated to remove the  restraints imposed upon total Islam from its dominance over these nations. You could say they have let the genie out of the bottle and will be unable to get him back in.

The ironic thing is that their time is coming, but not in the way they have dreamed. Islam is about to undergo a series of shattering judgments by the hand of the God of Israel, whom they have reviled.

It is the Sovereign God himself who has seen to it that oil would be  the lifeblood of the modern world, and who put the best and most easily accessible crude oil into  the very heart of the Arab world.

The Muslim successes over the Soviet Union, as well as the  seeming success at poking America(the great Satan) in the eye and living to tell about it, along with the demographic explosion(made possible by advances in western medicine), have intoxicated the Muslim world into believing that now is their shining time!

Furthermore the west, exhausted by the two world wars and culturally bled dry by the opportunistic plague called Multiculturalism, can’t seem to summons the will to vigorously resist Islamism. A false religion cannot be resisted by non religion. Our leaders won’t even name the problem!

Furthermore it is our God who is removing the corks(so to speak) taking out the Saddam’s, the Shah of Iran and the Mubarak’s of the world, so that the ugliness that is Islam can be totally revealed in all of its murderous glory. They brutally suppressed the Muslim brotherhood and any other expressions of true unvarnished Islam in order to have some semblance of a secular state.

I believe that The Lord  is fattening the Islamic middle east for the slaughter of His Judgment. It is not the eve of their greatest victory, but of their most shattering defeat. Pride always goes before a fall…

The Hebrews prophets predicted that the time of the end would be marked by wars in the middle East of utter devastation. Damascus will be a heap of Rubble(Isaiah 17), Amman Jordan will be destroyed, Babylon is again slated for destruction(Isaiah 13-14) , a confederation of Israel’s neighbors is going to experience the story of Gideon again(Psalm 83), and North Africa, Iran, Sudan, Southern Lebanon is directly addressed by the Most High in a menacing manner in Joel 3, and Turkey and the Caucuses Islamic “Stans” are set to be worse than decimated,(Ezekiel 38).

Pray for the Muslim people,  that they meet Jesus, and receive the love of the true God. It is true that millions of Muslims are finding Jesus and being saved, by radio, evangelism ,visions, dreams, and by literature.

Biblical prophesy is being fulfilled right before our eyes! Israel is the apple of God’s eye and His land was given to the 12 tribes of Israel, never to be taken away or compromised by their enemies. Your article is excellent and insightful. We must continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem as well as Our Lord’s mighty right hand present over the nation of Israel. As it is written, blessed be the nation that blesses Israel and cursed be the nation that curses Israel. I have been lifting up these poor, deceived people under their false god, Allah and that the Holy Spirit will be manifested greatly to convict, open their ears to hear, open their eyes to see, and their need for their only Savior, Our precious and beautiful Lord Jesus. May God continue to bless you in your ministry; we are blessed so much as our pastor!

    In Jesus’ love, Diane

No one can be saved by visions. It is not visions which save, but the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Millions of religious people have been deluded by so-called visions. We are not called to place our faith in what we can see but what we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1

Saving faith in the Lord Jesus is according to the truth of the gospel. It is the gospel which is the power of God unto salvation. Romans 1:16 It is the word of God which leads one to a knowledge of the truth. We should never encourage visions or to put one’s faith in visions. In my opinion we should quit passing along the rumor of people being saved by seeing a vision. this puts the undiscerning on very shaky ground.

Thanks Julie,I agree that people are saved by hearing God’s word and wouldn’t want to lead anyone to believe otherwise, Having said that , I do believe that God uses visions to bring people to hear and understand the Word of God. Consider Acts 10 and 11, and the conversion of Cornelius. Though the Angel appeared to him, he didn’t preach to Him the gospel, but led him to Peter. This is what is happening in the Muslim world. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and y*our young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:*(Acts 2:17)

God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Thanks again for the input.

Bill, thanks for that clarification. But you know what, the second way you explained it is not how I keep hearing it from person after person. They explain it just like you did the first time. That is what raises the red flags with me. Also, charismatics often try to *make* things happen just like they did during the time of the apostles. But we are not in the times of the apostles. Now we have the scriptures. It is the scriptures and the scriptures alone where we need to point folks. It is the biblical gospel that we speak and that God has promised to use. Without scripture, there is no solid criteria by which to judge visions, teachings, or what have you. People are so undiscerning in these days that teachers and preachers need to be very clear and biblical and discerning about claims and teachings and be able to point folks to the scriptures. Not just to historical happenings in scripture that may or may not be normative for today, but to scriptural principles, using the entirety of scripture. You normally do this very well, so I am not criticising you, but I do want to see care taken to make sure we are pointing folks in the right direction. Thank you.
