My Own Inaugural Poem… An American Lamentation

Like millions of Americans, and perhaps multiple millions around the globe,  I watched the historic second presidential inauguration of Barak Hussein Obama. As I listened to his speech, which included a reference to his own version of of the greatness of America’s Civil Rights advancements,

“We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall…”

I was struck by the spectacle of the President of the United States, the man who sits in the same office as Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Reagan, among other,   invoking as a great moment in American History, a late 1960’s riot at a homosexual Bar, (the Stonewall tavern). He placed the riot as equal to women’s suffrage, and the advances in Civil Rights won by Martin Luther King and his followers, at the expense of his Life.

The solemn proceedings went on to the reading by the self confessed “Gay American” poet, Richard Blanco, and to the invocation by Luis Leon, an Episcopal Priest known for performing “Gay Marriages”.

(He was the replacement pastor, for pastor Lou Giglio, an evangelical  whose work fighting human trafficking caught the attention of the inaugural committee, unto Homosexuals researched his sermons, finding in a twenty year old sermon a reference to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Giglio bowed out of the invocation when this was revealed.)

As I listened the idea came to me on this occasion to set pen to paper that I might submit my own inaugural poem,

Take up this Lamentation for the Land of the Free,

America, once the liberator of others, who will liberate you?

Are you really free? Free of what?

You have set your self free alright,

By your social revolution, you are now free from 

Marriage, commitment, family, and fruitfulness

Yours is the freedom of the madman,

who observes no conventions, who wears no clothes,

and who breaks all chains, (He will NOT be restrained)

and who now lives among the tombs crying and cutting himself…

Yours is the Freedom of Adam and Eve,

Who broke away from God, and from Eden, and from all that was good…

Do you know what you have forfeited? Do you know what you have lost?

Sing this dirge for America the Beautiful….

America you really were beautiful, 

What an idea! A republic based upon self rule, 

Limits upon Government power, based upon a biblical view of man, 

Lex Rex, and not Rex Lex,

So compatible with virtue!

Hard work and Merit were rewarded in you,

You put no limits on success or failure…

No wonder the oppressed around this sad world looked to your shining light!

Why wouldn’t people flock to the shores of the opportunities you offered?

But there is no Beauty without goodness…(Envy isn’t good)

and we seem to be forsaking goodness…

Cry aloud for the home of the Brave…

You left all to come here, O nation of pioneers, 

You cleared the paths for others, and pushed back the frontiers,

O Pilgrim  people, who wanted only to worship God,

 

Bravely you set out, with the Bible in hand…

When did the Word become the enemy?

Who has bewitched you America?

What is this Separation of church and state? Who invented this?

Didn’t we know that men such as Winthrop, Jonathan Edwards, and Washington,

were gifts from God, the right men for the right time?

How could we forget?  only if the Lord guards the city, that we are safe?

O People who sent their sons overseas to fight to free others,

Should one drop of blood be shed to promote “gay rights”?

Do we give our sons to die for abortion?

 Mourn that these are your leaders,

they are Reeds Shaken by the wind!

Politicians who lick their fingers, 

They sniff the air like a dog in heat, howling, ‘where is the money?

Where is the power?’ and ‘ Whats in it for me?’

Their primary loyalty is to self,

They are Prostitutes who sell their power for gain.

 Like a fox in the henhouse,Moslems have infiltrated our services,

Homosexuals have desecrated our military,

Degenerates besiege the family!

O Who will rise up for us against the evildoers?

The prophets warned us, that When the Lord judges a people,

He takes away from them the statesmen, the general, the honorable man,

Until the worst among us are given the rule, 

Remember the Words of Isaiah?

“And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.”

Plead for the Prodigal Nation,

For the LORD whom she has forgotten,

Is gracious and kind,

His very nature is to restore, to forgive and Heal,

The source of our blessings Is of long endurance,

Yea, the longsuffering of God is salvation,

He is likely to forgive, His mercies are ever new, 

If we turn to Him with all of our hearts,

If we agree with Him again, as in olden times

When real leaders called us to prayer, and humble supplication,

    I dont see anything “Hilarious” about it. We are in a very sad state of affairs. I can only say Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

    I think what we see happening is Romans 1.
    The country has rejected God and He has now given the people up to it own evil desires.
    I am afraid it is going to get much worse before God’s final judgement.

    Our Politicians seem to fix their gaze on pleasing man, instant gratifacation and short term praise. Where will we find a man who will say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done and stand up against political correctness, someone who will say “thus sayeth the Lord and have the scriptural backing to stand on ?

    An excellent poem which voices the opinion of many I know. Do you think we are not seeing an answer to the many prayers that we pray for this country because we are praying amiss? Must we look beyond what is evident to the spiritual source of the problem as Paul tells us?

    It’s from Behind Bars, that I sit to write;
    With memories of Freedom, once such a delight!
    It’s in fighting for freedom, that we’ve fought to protect;
    The very lifestyles we’ve built, become the enslaving Net!

    A Net that’s so tight, … and only getting tighter;
    In a search for Freedom, the “Machine’s” now our Fighter!
    A Man-made-Monstrocity, … we’re Technologically Trapped;

    A “Machine” sustained, by an ever-consuming “Flesh”;

    So here’s the Solution, “Man’s Greatness” will bring;
    “Let’s track them all, so that none might spring”!
    The World-Wide-Web, now enshrines humankind;
    And mans’ search for Grandeur, has left us “Blind”!

    “Just where are the Prophets?”, we all might say;
    Oh yes they’re there, but not allowed to sway!
    For in front to their heart, a “dagger” is kept;
    And behind a “Noose”, the *”Tyler” holds checked!

    Society marches on a chequered floor, according to the Pace the “Lodge” dictates;
    The Gangplank’s been long, but “The End” won’t wait!
    For in the “Signs of the Times”, increasingly it’s apparent;
    And God’s Judgement awaits, each & every adherent!

    So where is this Freedom, each and everyone awaits;
    And just where in the World, is the Entrance to these Gates?
    It’s through Christ Jesus alone, the Future’s guaranteed;
    For He’s the Way, Truth & Life, & in Him alone are we to succeed!
    … Amen!

        Thx Bill! This poem was written from South Africa 2002, and since writing it, nothing but our world’s further demise has taken place … thus fulfilling the words of “Behind Bars”! Oh how WE NEED our SAVIOR & LORD, JESUS CHRIST…!!! I love Ezekiel 33: 10-11! “How then shall we live? … Repent & live, why will you die …?” Revelation 9: 20-21 is also SO VERY APPLICABLE in this age in which we live; an Age of Technocratic Wizardry!!
