The Scope of the Apostasy… The Delusion pt 1

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;( 2 Thess 2:1-3)

When I read that the President of the United States, Barak Hussein Obama ordered the installation of a gender neutral restroom in the White House, like others I was disgusted and even demoralized. The White House has long been a symbol to many, for it has long represented many Judeo Christian ideals such as servant leadership, human freedom, compassionate use of force, and Government under law and order.

The installation of a gender neutral bathroom is only the latest in a long line of ‘desecrations’ to the White House and various other U.S. institutions held in esteem by freedom lovers everywhere. The Obamas and the Clintons before them seemed to go out of their way to diminish our national symbols. In the case of the Clintons, the installation of  an obscene Christmas tree in the White House, or their renting out the Lincoln bedroom to the highest donors.

The Obamas have used the White House as a backdrop for the honored reception of deserters from the military, sexual deviants, hostile Muslims, the praising of vicious dictators, and the snubbing of treasured allies to the US such as Benjamin Netanyahu. The ‘gender neutral’ bathroom is only the latest insult to the standards and propriety of millions of Americans.

What is going on here? How are we to understand our times? What does the Word of God have to say about it?

What we are witnessing is a genuine moral and spiritual revolution. Fortunately the Word of God has much to say about it. Obama, the Clintons and their ilk are partisans in the revolution, as are most of the world’s “intelligentsia”.

The Scripture I cited above refers to it as the apostasy. The day of Christ is not at hand until the apostasy occurs… . The second Psalm also refers to it, when he predicts a ‘liberation movement’ led by ‘the Kings of the earth and their rulers’.

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.(Psalm 2:1-3)

The Kings of the earth and their rulers, is an expression that refers to far more than the political leadership of the earth. Rather it refers to the broader ‘ruling elite’ in the culture, the intellectuals, the governors, the leaders in organized religion, the entertainment and opinion shapers, the media, and sciences, the arts and leaders in medicine, finance and education.

We are told that they come to this ‘counsel together’, this unanimous consensus  which is anti-God and anti-Christ.  Where do they take this counsel? They have been imbibing to for about the last sixty to a hundred years in the places of higher learning. The counsel is against “the Lord and his Christ”, in other words it is hostile to the Judeo Christian revelation.

We all now know the common experience of hard-working parents who send their child to higher education in hopes of a better life, only to be disappointed. The first semester he returns home hostile to the capitalistic system, by the second, he is pro gay. At the end of the third he is virulently against Israel, and by the fourth he doesn’t believe in God anymore!

What happened? The second Psalm tells us what happened. The counsel is “against the Lord and His Christ”.

Then the Kings of the earth launch a liberation movement against the so called “Cords” and “Bonds” of the God of the Bible and His Christ. The moral and spiritual restrictions of the Christian religion have to be stripped away, such as the Christian definition of Marriage, man, woman, and sexuality. The Christian concept of absolute Truth also has to go, and all laws and customs which sprang out of it.

The Clintons, the Obamas and all of our culture desecrators are partisans in this war on reality. They have to trash the constitution and the White House because they are tearing down the old order in the service of the Revolution, i.e. the apostasy.

Too often the apostasy warned of is interpreted as a Christian apostasy, a departure from Doctrine and practice unique to the Christian church. But a study of Christian history will tell us that all along the way , the Christian history has had to contend with false doctrine, heretical teachers, and phony spiritualities. There has always been as much, if not more apostasy in the church as there has been a true church.

This apostasy is something different. It is a World wide departure from revealed truth. There is a sense in which the Christian religion imparted to the world many benefits, which applied whether one is individually converted or not.

The Judeo Christian revelation has given us all the superior Western civilization, with its emphasis on the value of the individual, political freedom, rule by law, stable two parents families, the value of hard work, the protection of children, the sanctity of all human life, civil rights, humility, the role of the male and female, the meaning of family, man-made in the Image of God etc..

The most basic and universal truths about humanity are found in the first eleven chapters in Genesis. The creation and role of male and female, the family, children, Government, culture, in short everything that God wanted us to know as foundational to human life.

What is happening , is the point by point repudiation of these once solid pillars. Who says you have to be a man? Who says marriage has to be between a man and a woman? Why should you want to have children? Brick by brick and pillar by pillar the old order is being assaulted and torn down by the Kings of the earth, their rulers and their willing but naive following.

Obama’s gender neutral restroom is an affirmation of the “Vain Imagination” , that we humans, can redefine ourselves, and find meaning and beauty in this world without God and on our own terms. It isn’t really progressive, in fact it is a regression to the pre- Christian past. As we will see, this doesn’t end well, except for the true believers.

Excellent article! I love the Psalms reference and how the rulers take counsel together against the Lord Jesus Christ. We can see this departure from the truth of Gods Word world wide, as you explained. No love of the truth. Thank you so much. I can’t wait for part 2!

All true, except this is not new. Before “who says you have to be a man” we had “who said marriage was for life?” “Who says I have to get married?” We had “who said the father is the head of the home?” Then, “you don’t have to stay pregnant, you can abort.” Even our “religious liberty” idea had a major flaw in it. Because if we tolerate other religions, we are in effect saying there is some truth there worth respecting. But if we say that, then we deny the exclusivity of Jesus Christ. Now this “freedom” is being used against us. They have set up their intolerant religions right under our noses.

  5. Lisa says:

    1 Timothy 4:1
But the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will fall away from the faith.
Maybe that’s where people think it’s only a faith thing?
    Then there’s Hebrews 3:12
Take care brethren that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.
    Then there’s Matthew 24:9-10
Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another.
To me He is talking about believers not the nations as a whole.
I still think that the falling away is about Christians falling away from God and not how you have explained it here.

    • billrandles says:

That is certainly a part of it Lisa, but a study of church history would lead one to wonder, ‘which falling away’? For from the very time of the apostles there has always been a continuous falling away, and distortions and apostasies of the truth, to the point where orthodox Christianity became one selection ut of a hundred versions of christianity. The miracle is that there is and has always been a real Christian church! Thanks for your comment

      • Lisa says:

I believe 1 Timothy 4:1 tells us. The spirit explicitly says people fall away from the faith. What other faith is there that the Spirit would be involved with? Faith in Jesus. Not all the world has faith in God. You could just as well say that there have been governments and people all throughout history that have been against God because they don’t acknowledge God.
Explicit is that people will fall away from the faith. Jesus says people will fall away, in Hebrews people shrink back. It’s all from faith in Jesus.

The nations will gather together but that isn’t a falling away from God-they never believed so how can they fall from something they never believed in? You are combing two truths and trying to say they belong together but I think they are separate from one another yet happening in the same time period.

      • billrandles says:

Lisa thanks for the comments. I am not denying that there will be a Christian falling away(As there has been since the times of the apostles(Acts 20:28-30) .Nor am I saying that the gathering of the nations against Israel is the apostasy. I am only saying the Apostasy is broader than that, but it does include the Christian apostasy. You ask how can they apostasies from what they never had at all? That is assuming wethat the word apostasy applies only to those who are God’s people. But the World has received many things beneficial from God, even though they don’t know or acknowledge him. For example the idea of marriage between one man and one woman, came into the western world through the influence of the Christian church. It was once sanctioned by secular courts of law, and upheld by judges. But there has been a serious departure( the true meaning of Apostasy- “Apo” away from- “stasis” to stand – “Apostasy” to stand away from- as our world moves away from nearly everything God established in the first eleven chapters of Genesis, we can know we are in the serious times warned of by the apostles. After all name one time in Church history where there wasn’t serious apostasy abounding? Your friend-Pas Bill

  7. Joel says:

    Mr Randles,
In John 18:36 Jesus is telling Pilate “My kingdom is not of this world”. So what difference does it make what President Obama does or does not do at the White House? Even if he did follow the Constitution and was politically correct, Obama would still be a constitutionally and morally correct sinner. This world is not my home, I am just passing through. Christians are not here to make changes to the political or the society. We are charged with spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Were the sons of Issachar not commended by God for “Knowing the times”? Ddn’t Jesus tells us that the times should be known as well as the weather? Thanks for your writing-

    • Lisa says:

I agree with you Joel. We are called to share the Good News. We are also to be in the world not of the world.

  8. jonahzsong says:

It seems to me that you both, Lisa and Bill, make excellent points. Yet I don’t see that they are mutually exclusive of one another. Both for the Jewish people in Biblical time, and for the Christians in Christian times, there have certainly been a falling away. The Book of Judges shows this, and the letters from the Apostles warned the Church of their day as it does ours.

Perhaps what is different today, what might be seen as a all-encompasing apostasy, is that the Spirit of G-d is drawing away, pulling back from the world. This enables those not fully committed to the Lord to turn from the Church or be caught up in false teaching. Also, unbelievers are no longer constrained, and are left to believe they can chart their own course, to take counsel against G-d.

G-d through His Spirit is the Center of the World, when He removes His Spirit. . .

. . .Turning and turning in the widening gyre
    The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
(from The Second Coming by Yeats)

Lord Bless, Keep, Shine. . .

  9. The “christian” aspect of this apostasy is what disturbs me most and is the focus of my life. God is The Final Judge, but It grieves me to think of loved ones who are being deceived by so much “false gospel” which is being propagated as the true Christian faith. We who have “eyes to see…” need to live as “meet for the Masters use” My only confidence is that God is Sovereign and that that nothing that happens will happen apart from His will in the end. This is a critical, timely topic! Thank you, Bill for your blog and to all participants in this discussion.

Very sound as always I enjoy your talks at Hephzibah in Marlow too many churches going away from the truth today. We have about 32 churches in Reading but only 2 are preaching the gospel.
