(This is the second of a two part article originally posted in October 2015)
The controversy which is engulfing all nations, pulling strong nations such as the USA, Russia,China and Iran into an utter maelstrom in the Middle East, is basically the same issue which the book of Genesis raises in the story of Jacob and Esau.
God chose Jacob, but Isaac chose Esau. Esau should have the bulk of the inheritance, being first-born, humanly speaking. But God saw to it that Jacob should receive the Patriarchal blessing.
Esau hates Jacob and swears that Jacob has deceived and cheated him of it.
Esau became Edom, the inveterate enemy of Israel,until the Edomite nation was subdued and assimilated in the intra-testamental period. Islam has picked up the grievances of Ishmael and Esau, and nurtured them. The modern Arab Muslim near eastern world is now Edom.
The Whole world is pulled into the fight between Jacob and Esau, neutrality has become impossible. Most of todays world sides with Edom in the Controversy of Zion, ceding land God gave to Abraham,Isaac and Jacob, to Muslim terrorist states.UNESCO just ceded the very tomb of the Patriarchs to the terror state, in spite of the historic fact that the Patriarchs are Jewish.
This madness will lead to the terrors of Isaiah 34. Those who pass out sweets and rejoice in terror acts against Jewish innocents are now under God’s ban, according to Isaiah 34. They are “dedicated to utter destruction”
For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter...For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.(Isaiah 34:2, 5)
The Arab Muslim World and all nations who side in her hatred and bloodshed against Israel, are set for wrath and destruction at the hands of the LORD, over the controversy of Zion!
We complete our exposition of Isaiah 34;
And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness. For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. (Isaiah 35:7-8)
The blood thirsty ones such as ISIS, ISIL, Al Queda, Hezbullah and the rest of the Islamic rabble, are likened as to sacrificial animals, coming down to Zion, not knowing that they have been fattened for a slaughter, God is a God of righteous vengeance, and the set time is near to execute his wrath.
And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.(Isaiah 34:9-10)
We saw shades of this during the first Gulf War, when Saddam Hussein set alight the oil wells as a military tactic. The oil rich Middle East will be set afire in the day of vengeance and black clouds of pitch will burn to increase the horror of that day.
But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.(Isaiah 34:11)
Part of Esau’s inheritance will be rendered un-inhabitable forever, so great is the destruction coming upon them. The very expression which Jesus cited and applied to the fires of Hell, “The smoke of their torment” comes from this passage.
They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, but none shall be there, and all her princes shall be nothing.(Isaiah 34:12)
The Sheiks,Nobles and all of the religious and political leaders of Edom shall vanish. They are long gone, nowhere to be seen.The fire they have set with their lies and incitements of their own ignorant populations has consumed them in the day of Vengeance.
And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls. The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.(Isaiah 34:13-15)
Because of God’s anger, the curse on Creation prevails in Edom, and the only birds or animals are those who dwell in solitary,human-less places. Edom is a place under God’s ban- it is dedicated to utter destruction.
Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.(Isaiah 34:16-17)
Have any of Isaiah’s other prophecies failed? Did Jesus indeed come once ,into history as the “Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief”? Did he not successfully bear all of our sin and transgression as Isaiah had predicted? Surely not one word of Isaiah’s prophecies have failed, for “The Mouth of the Lord hath Spoken it…”.
Even so has God appointed the terrifying end of those on the wrong side of the Controversy of Zion. Wild and lonely beasts shall possess Edom’s land, which shall otherwise be desolated forever, by the Hand of the Holy God who has so decreed.

Such a powerful, hard-hitting message. I always grieve for the children who will be caught up in the Judgments and anger of the Lord God. I only ask that God bring His Word to the children, that somehow the Holy Spirit gets into their beings and hearts and brings them to Christ.
Those passages from Isaiah 34 sound a lot like the passages in Revelation 18 describing the fall of Babylon the Great. Read both of them and compare; for example there are references to unclean birds and “the smoke of her burning” (ESV) in both of these passages. Of course, we should remember that Revelation has many, many references and quotes from the OT which is why we should be reading the OT, and not “detaching” from it as one mega-church “pastor” (not a shepherd, IMO), is now teaching.
Joel Richardson has made a very strong case for Mecca (a city in the desert, as described in Revelation) and Saudi Arabia, where Islam was birthed, as the great harlot of Babylon. I believe Islam is the strongest contender for the anti-Christ system. All the kings of the earth have committed harlotry with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is also home to Wahhabism, the most virulent form of Islam, to which the 9/11 terrorists adhered. Islam is Saudi Arabia’s biggest export, funding Islamic studies in our major universities.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has so many kings and princes that live in truly obscene luxury, thanks to their wealth and their ability to buy anything from the merchants of the world, from luxury yachts to diamond encrusted cars, etc. Saudi Arabia also traffics in human souls (Rev. 18:13); Joel writes about this in his book, “Mystery Babylon: Unlocking the Bible’s Greatest Prophetic Mystery”.
If Saudi Arabia goes up in smoke, and it will, the merchants of the earth will have no oil for their ships and thus, no one in the Saudi Kingdom to buy their luxuries. They will be
“weeping and mourning aloud,
16 “Alas, alas, for the great city
that was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17 For in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.”
And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off 18 and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,
“What city was like the great city?”
19 And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,
“Alas, alas, for the great city
where all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For in a single hour she has been laid waste.
20 Rejoice over her, O heaven,
and you saints and apostles and prophets,
for God has given judgment for you against her!””

Think about it. I know Joel could be wrong, but having read the book and listened to him make the case for Saudi Arabia I personally don’t see how anyone could read it and come to any other conclusion. Just my opinion.

If the Anti-Christ were to come out of a “revived” Roman Empire of some sort, would it be the Eastern part or the Western part? All the nations surrounding Israel are Arab/Muslim.The Bible is a Middle-Eastern centric book, not a European one. The Roman Empire also extended well into the Middle East, and legions of Roman soldiers came from those countries. In fact, the 10th Legion, which destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem in 70AD, was made up of Arab and Syrian conscripts, not Italian/Europeans. Josephus recorded this. The Anti-Christ is often referred to as “the Assyrian” in the Old Testament.
There is no other ideology today that is more anti-Christ and which completely inverts every Biblical doctrine, than Islam, not even Roman Catholic doctrine, which does not deny that Jesus is the Son of God, that Jesus is God, that He is come in the flesh and does not deny the resurrection, all things denied in Islam. The anti-Christ is the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ and has come in the flesh. While there are many false doctrines in Roman Catholicism, it still embraces these essentials and in fact has probably helped preserve them.
1 John 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.
